Overview

The CHC43412 Certificate IV in Disability qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and peoples’ homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing.


Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to and may contribute to an individualised plan, and work without direct supervision. They may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

ARC Training Entry Requirements

  • Be an existing worker in the industry;  
  • Have completed one of: 
  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or 
  • CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or 
  • CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set 
  • Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment and achieve ACSF level 4 across all domains  
  • Be physically fit to be able to assist clients (lifting/bending may be required); 
  • Provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI); 
  • Have reasonable digital literacy skills to participate in an online classroom environment

Duration

Students will complete 33 weeks of training during a 12-month period. *

Work Placement

Students must complete 120 hours of work placement in a care facility. This may be completed in your current workplace if appropriate.

Delivery Mode

The CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support is offered as a workplace hybrid program. 


Hybrid workplace is a blended delivery of online classroom attendance and workplace activities.

 

Each unit of competency will be delivered over four weeks, and students must attend a 2-hour mandatory session per unit.

There are 10 units of competency to complete, comprising seven core units and three elective units of competency.

Course Cost

Government funding may be eligible for eligible students in ACT, SA, and NSW. Please see the relevant state fee schedule.
