Overview
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
ARC Training Entry Requirements
- Be an existing worker in the industry or be able to undertake work placement and provide:
- National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Vaccination Card (and proof of COVID-19 vaccination)
- Working with Children Check (if required by the workplace)
- Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment and achieve ACSF level 3 across all domains
- Be physically fit to be able to assist clients (lifting/bending may be required);
- Provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Have reasonable digital literacy skills to participate in an online classroom environment

Duration
Hybrid workplace students will complete 49 weeks of training during a 12-month period. *
Face-to-face learners will complete 26 weeks of training during a 12-month period. *
*Subject to public holidays and RTO closure periods.
Work Placement
Students must complete 120 hours of work placement in a care facility. This may be completed in your current workplace if appropriate.
Delivery Mode
The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) is offered as a workplace hybrid or face-to-face program.
Hybrid workplace is a blended delivery of online classroom attendance and workplace activities.
Face-to-face involves regular in-person classroom attendance and workplace activities and are available in New South Wales only. All other enrolments will be workplace hybrid.
Hybrid workplace students will attend two hours of class (online) per week. Face-to-face learners will attend two in-person sessions per week (5.5 hours each).

There are fifteen units of competency to complete, comprising nine core units and six elective units of competency.

Course Cost
Government funding may be eligible for eligible students in ACT, SA and NSW. Please see the relevant state fee schedule.
This course may also be delivered nationally as a fee-for-service offering.

Students may complete their placement in their current workplace as long as they have approval to do so, and that they have access to all the necessary resources and exposure to required care situations in line with training package requirements.
An ARC Training staff member will discuss evidence and workplace assessment requirements with you.
If you complete placement in your current workplace, you may be paid for your hours.
Alternative placement arrangements will be unpaid.
ARC Training can support students to find a suitable placement if they are unable to complete the hours at their current workplace. We will do our best to ensure the placement is suitably located and accommodated to cultural or religious requirements but cannot guarantee all needs will be met.
You will need a clear nationally coordinated criminal history check, NDIS Workers Screening Check, proof of vaccination and other checks as necessary for the work placement provider for ARC Training to assist with your work placement.
